About The Lakes at Litchfield

What distinguishes The Lakes at Litchfield from other retirement communities in the area?

Just a jump from shopping and fun in the heart of Pawleys Island, we are a welcome and attractive site for seniors looking to enjoy their independence. Our tranquil setting complements the advantages of our locale because it offers the best of both worlds – peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle, but close enough to find great entertainment when you want it.

The Lakes at Litchfield’s commitment to wellness and combining it with everyday life is another reason we stand out. We’ve committed the resources, research and staff to lead our area and our industry in total wellness. With our research partner, Wake Forest University and the J. Paul Sticht Center, we are finding better ways for people to live healthy and higher quality lives and we put our knowledge to use – creating programs and opportunities where our Members get to infuse their lives with activities and fun while improving their mental and physical health.

The Lakes at Litchfield knows how important it is for people to leave a lasting legacy. We help our Members do that through our Life Story Film Series, where any Member gets to sit down with our film professionals and actually film…record…share their Life Story. They get the benefit of knowing that their voice and life will be recorded so that their families can share in it and families get the joy of hearing wonderful stories…sometimes unknown treasures about fathers, grandmothers and the like. Produced on high-definition film, these DVDs and films make wonderful keepsakes chronicling the lives and experiences that shape families (and history).

Our community’s goal is to help people live longer, healthier and happier lives independently in their own home. While we have excellent healthcare options on site if our Members should ever need them, our real purpose is to help our Members stay independent for as long as possible. With our amenity offerings, our excellent menu selections, a packed social calendar plus the award-winning wellness program – we are quite good at accomplishing our goal.

What’s the lifestyle like in a Retirement Community?

A retirement community is a community designed to give people a supportive network while they transition through their senior years. Many contain all levels of retirement and long term care: independent living, assisted living, typically Alzheimer’s care and skilled nursing. The difference at The Lakes at Litchfield is…we want people to live independently for the rest of their lives and never have to experience healthcare. To do so, we incorporate an exciting wellness program, provide exceptional food (with healthy options) and actively encourage our Members to take advantage of all our amenities, which allow them to live life to the fullest. Like most retirement communities, we offer healthcare services as well – both assisted living and Alzheimer’s care. Our community is staffed with caregivers and team members who live by the golden rule: “Treat others as you wish to be treated.” Independent cottages – independent villas – assisted living – Alzheimer’s care – with rehabilitation/therapy opportunities can all be found in our retirement community.
